In this series of presumably semi-regular features, I’ll going to be bringing up games from the past that for one reason or another deserve another chance to shine.  Whether that opportunity comes in the form of a re-release, a remake, or a sequel will be addressed case by case.

The original Terminator and original RoboCop movies are defining movies in my life.  See somewhere in the mid 90s (around the age of 7~10) was when I first got to see these films, which was nearly a decade before I’d of been able to actually buy a ticket to see them.  To this day I can remember my first exposure to them. Winter in Gaming – Day 30 // Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games

Every other year we get to witness some new advances in video game technology.  This might be in the form of a new video games console or cutting edge graphics card(s), or perhaps a new peripheral that gives us a new way to experience games such as Virtual Reality, 3D gaming, or even controller technology like motion controls, rumble packs, the analog stick, shoulder buttons…yada yada yada.

If I could time travel back to 1997 and tell that version of me about things like; PlayStation VR, the Nintendo 3DS, Steam Sales, smart phone games being better graphically than anything of that era, local multi-player becoming somewhat a rarity in place of online gaming… 

11 year old me: “Woah! No way!  I wish I could be there now!”

I’d lap it up.

Though if I was to go back to 1997 and tell that version of me that one day… Mario and Sonic will star in a series of games together, and that Sega will stop making console and go on to make a whole load of console exclusive and multi-platform titles, and start to see Nintendo as an ally and not the enemy.

11 year old me:  “AHHHH!!  Stranger Danger, get this deranged psycho away from me”

Winter in Gaming – Day 12 – The Ghost of Christmas Past…

Technically today’s entry isn’t a game to play over winter recommendation, but bear with me because I’d actually like your feedback with this topic later…

Over the weekend I was putting pen to paper in my notepad for more ideas to ensure I could continue these daily posts all the way through to December 31st without having to pad it out with anything I’d consider to just be filler, or something I wasn’t sincerely a fan of to warrant talking about it.

Thankfully I’ve now got enough ideas to not only fill this month, but I have a basis to maybe even return to this idea in 2017 if it seems worthwhile.  One of those ideas that arose was my Christmas list items that didn’t come to be that I still vividly remember to this day, for better or for worse…
