Week in Review…
Pokémon Moon should really be on this list but with some post Christmas house tidying I’m not sure where I’ve self hidden the 3DS charger. Due to which I’ve had my Vita with me in town to my 9-5 for some lunchtime sessions on Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing Transformed.
Bought Turok on Steam from a Steam Winter Sale. Barely scratched the surface yet but it’ll be pretty cool to revisit that game I’ve probably never touched since the late 90s (the sequels were always more preferable for me to revisit due to the addition of multiplayer and some more interesting weapons and gameplay). Was excited to hear Turok 2 will also be getting a Steam remaster too.
Another game I picked up in a winter sale was Never Alone on XBOX One. The price was ridiculously low and it looked like a cute indie game I could with my partner. Played about 30mins of it together yesterday and it’s cute. Similar to Limbo in a way and educational about Inuit people with several little documentary videos unlocking as you progress (although my girlfriend didn’t seem to interested in them, so I’ll be chain watching them separately I guess).
Just Cause 3 I intended to get on release but only picked up late last year. I’m enjoying it. It’s essentially what I’d expect it to be after having had a lot of fun with Just Cause 2 years back. I feel as though it’s impact isn’t quite as heavy as it’s predecessor, but as a quick pick up and play fix that’s on the PS4 HDD it’s fun. Just Cause 4 is definitely a time for them to really freshen up the series though.
Perhaps add a all buildings are destructible kind of element that the Red Faction games had to really put more emphasis on the rebel war zone atmosphere the game is all about. It would cut out the ease of just being able to hide on top of some buildings and pick people off and simply hijack the occasional air support.
Octodad also goes down as my first game completed in 2017. I’m surprised I didn’t play this game years ago when it was released on PC. I sort of expected the game to be longer given it’s normal release price, but although I’ve finished it I’ll surely drop in from time to time just for the comedy of the game and to collect some of the ties I missed, and I dug the humour throughout the Octodad universe.
- Kirby’s Tilt N Tumble [Japan] (Game Boy Color)
- Metal Slug Anthology [PlayStation Store PS4]
Not much this week, although I’m ballin on a budget so to speak until payday after recovering from the holidays and social gatherings with friends.
I highly recommend people who enjoy the Metal Slug series or need some classic side scrolling co-op fun to pick up the anthology collection whilst cheap on PlayStation Store.
